MOST people recognize a typo when they see one/make one.
Not necessarily. But spellcheck works pretty well. Automatically, in fact, at least for common words. But even when it doesn't make an automatic substitution, it does make clear the writer to the fact that there IS a misspelling. Do these people think the highlighting is just some kind of decoration?
I've been wondering about that for more than 20 years.
